Forget the shopping trips and pie baking—the best way to get ready for Thanksgiving is to go on a run, especially if it’s the annual Turkey Trot Family Fun Run, put on by the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department.

The run starts at 9 a.m. on Nov. 22 at the Hagerman Sports Complex at 3300 Skyway Drive. Teens and adults can take on the 2.5-mile loop course, while kids ages 7 through 12 can try out the shorter course.

Registration has already started and runs through Nov. 19. The entry fee is $10, which includes a T-shirt. For more information and to find out how to register for the race, contact Recreation and Parks Department Recreation Coordinator Eduardo Marquez at 935-0951, Ext. 355.
