Lompoc extends deadline for Mobile Mural Contest

The entry deadline for the city of Lompoc’s Mobile Mural Contest has been extended to May 12 due to a technical glitch discovered with the email provided for submissions.

The glitch has been fixed, but artists who already submitted their works are asked to resubmit to [email protected]. The city apologized for the inconvenience.

The Lompoc Mobile Mural Contest gives artists in Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County a chance to have their work displayed on the city’s new refuse trucks. Submit original artwork in the theme of “Public Works Connects Us” in media including acrylics, crayons, oils, pencils, and watercolors. Entrants can submit group or individual art.

The “Public Works Connect Us” theme was chosen in honor of National Public Works Week. The city will select eight pieces of art on May 23 to be displayed on the new trucks for up to a year.

Deadline for entry is May 12. Guidelines and entry forms are available at cityoflompoc.com/publicworks/muralcontest.htm. Submissions should be sent to [email protected].
